The reason was the daughter of the Bayless couple grew up in a city with a million people all around her, and she really missed it. Hence, she went to work in a restaurant right away. It made Lanie realize that hospitality was indeed what she was meant to do.
Lane Ann Bayless worked as a hostess in New York restaurants such as Daniel Boulud‘s DBGB, Hill Country BBQ, and Cosme. Soon after, her parents approached her with an offer to manage their family business. The desire to take on a creative role within the family business was too strong to resist, so she returned to the city in 2016 to open the restaurant Lena Brava.
After a while, the Chicago-born opened her own co*cktail bar, Sotano. Lane Ann Bayless’ Sotano bar serves her own Mexican co*cktails as well as her father’s signature Mexican cuisine.

With the experience under her belt and dedication, today, Rick Bayless’ daughter serves as the director for the various restaurants of her family. Lanie Bayless met her future husband, Kevin Sullivan, at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Thus, it’s no surprise that the performing arts played a significant role in their wedding as they both were from the same background.
Although they were living in New York when they got engaged, the couple knew they wanted to marry in Chicago. Since the restaurateur was brought up in Chicago, no wonder, she wanted it to be her wedding destination. The ceremony, which took place in September 2016 in Wrigley Square, included singing and Shakespeare readings, followed by the bride singing her vows rather than reciting them.
Later, a choreographed father-daughter salsa dance kicked off a night of nonstop dancing. The fun and enjoyment resulted in an afterparty at Frontera Grill before the couple left for their honeymoon in New Orleans.

Lanie and her husband became parents of an adorable little one on September 30, 2020. Rick was the one who announced the happy news and has not refrained from sharing a few more pictures of his granddaughter.
