With farming games comes fishing, and there are tons of fish in the sea in Sun Haven, with over seven different types of rods, fishing skills to unlock, and fishing locations to find. You can get a lot of money out of fishing and still have time left in the day instead of farming.

Actively fishing will give you experience points in the Fishing skill tree. Fish can also be donated at the museum in Sun Haven. There is no downside to picking up a fancy-looking rod from Peter's store and trying your luck in the sea.
Fishing Overview
Fishing involves a mini-game where you have to use the interact button the moment your bobber or sliding line is on top of the "winning area" which is both yellow and green.
You don't have to land on the green to win the game and get a fish or boot. The more you put points toward your Fishing Skill Tree, the more you can unlock abilities that make the mini-game exceedingly easier.
Upon arriving at Sun Haven, you will eventually get a Basic Fishing Rod in the mail. Instead of waiting, you could also head down to the beach South of town and enter Peter's shop, where you can find every tier of fishing rod.
There are two other towns to unlock in the game with their own fishing rods and locations. To unlock these areas, you must continue with the main story quest line.
The purpose of getting a better fishing rod is to increase the reward for fishing. A better fishing rod doesn't make fishing easier in terms of catching rare fish; it instead adds benefits such as an increase in Fishing XP and added gold when you catch fish.
Bait
You can also craft and use bait to change the game. Bait can do different things depending on what type you are using. In Sun Haven, you can only craft bait from a Composter crafting table.
In Nel'Vari and Withergate, you must use a Mana Composter to craft bait. Bait can change parts of the mini-game such as increasing the Win Area (yellow) or the Sweet Spot (green). The effect of a single bait will last one hour in-game.
- Basic Bait will increase the Win Area and Sweet Spot by 12 percent
- Advanced Bait will increase Win Area and Sweet Spot by 25 percent
- Sweet Bait increases the size of the Sweet Spot by 20 percent
- Lucky Bait increases the Win Area by 20 percent
- Chilly Bait slows down the slider by 10 percent
- Spicy Bait speeds up the slider by 15 percent but increases rare fish odds and Fishing Skill by 15
- Really Spicy Bait speeds up the slider by 50 percent but increases rare fish odds and Fishing Skill by 25

Sun Haven Fishing Locations
Like most things in Sun Haven, fish are seasonal. There is a group of fish that show up year-round, but most can only be caught during a specific season.
You will want to make the most out of the season you are in so that you don't have to wait a whole in-game year.
There are five different areas to go fishing in Sun Haven. The river and pound at your farm, the beach or sea south of town, and the two separate forests on either side of town.

Nel'Vari Fishing Locations
The fish in Nel'Vari are available all year round. Nothing in the elven village is season-limited.
This means you can grind away to find all the fish you need to donate to the museum without having to wait an in-game year for a different fish to be available.
There are only three different areas to go fishing in all of Nel'Vari. Your farm, the village, and the surrounding blue forests.

Withergate Fishing Locations
Just like Nel'Vari, all the fish in Withergate are available all year round. The fact that the fish in Nel'Vari and Withergate are not limited by anything but rarity allows you to focus on your tasks better since Sun Haven has more fish and more seasons to be aware of.
Withergate has five different areas you can fish at. Your farm, the village, and the forest are the obvious ones. The sewers are another location you enter through the main quest into Withergate. The last location is Midnight Isle, which is locked and only rewards entry by completing the Altar of Fishing.
